The NBU will no longer issue cash circulation of small coins

Coins are in denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 25 cents will continue to be used as a means of payment.

The national Bank of Ukraine (NBU) stops the minting of coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 25 cents from 1 July 2018.

At the same time, the NBU will continue to issue coins with denominations of 10 kopecks and 50 kopecks.

This happens in connection with the introduction of new rules for rounding the total purchase to simplify cash payments.Also, the NBU said that the coins with denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 25 cents, introduced earlier, and will later be used as a means of payment. The national Bank will withdraw from circulation those coins, and they will be in circulation for an indefinite period of time until a separate decision of the Board of the National Bank.
